FUTUREWORKS Business Expert
“Curiosity
has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he
contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous
structure of reality.”
Finally, the long search for meaning was over. It seemed so simple, and appeared as though it has been there all along. The whole thing just came in to focus and conected the pieces. It was like something out of the childhood dream, and yet now clearly defined and tangible. The years of frustration and searching were now over. The model fit. The prism worked no matter how different or disconnected were the disciplines and facts that were being filtered through it. Deeper levels of meaning being uncovered with every glance, yet the foundation so simple a child could grasp it.
The model explained everything:
Finally, a model that could predict and shape future events, or to study the lessons of the past. A way to compare completely different businesses. A way to learn and communicate business business concepts quickly.
A moment of jubilant joy is spoiled by the realization that this gift is yet to be refined, tested and shared. Otherwise this revalation has no purpose. The hardest part of the work yet lay ahead. This is a task that could not be accomplished privately. Thus, FutureWorks was born to enhance the lives and businesses through sharing of the model.
It was late in the evening. My best friend and I were bouncing around different business names. We were at the truckstop cafe, which we often used for brainstorming sessions. My friend had a pretty good understanding of some of my business, since he was one of my first clients. One by one I explained my products and considered what unified them all. He suggested a two part name, what you do and who you are. The second part was easy; I have been working as a business specialist of one sort or another most of my adult life. The first one was a bit of a challenge. I could not explain what it is I do in two sentances, much less in two words. Usually I just look at a particular company, almost intuitively focus on the area where I can make the most difference, and go to work. Besides, armed with the E-M8 model, my goal was to do more than just solve problems or train staff. It was to give people and organizations the means to be in charge of their own destinies. I finally said: "I want to give them a hope and a future." To which my friend and now the god-father of my business replied: "FutureWorks Business Expert."
It had to be an irony, but it had to be subtle. Finally, Jeremy had the perfect idea. A fresh new idea, symbolized by the modern light bulb, not the classic that everyone appropriately uses to represent their "new" ideas, contrasted with the typewritten slogan, became FutureWorks first logo.
